The City Celebrates Georgia Cities Week & Historic Preservation Month
Communities from coast to coast are filled with historic treasures-and May’s the month to celebrate them!
In celebration of Historic Preservation Month & Georgia Cities Week, on Monday, May 7, 5 – 6 PM, the Dahlonega Mayor and Council presented “Discovering Dahlonega’s Hidden Gems – Art Show & Reception.”
The art show exhibits Lumpkin County High School student work. The diverse art pieces depict the unique architecture and historic places of Dahlonega.
The City would like to offer a special thank you to Julie Hogan for her continued partnership on this annual event and her eagerness to educate students about the importance of historic preservation. Historic preservation is an effective tool for managing growth and sustainable development, revitalizing neighborhoods, fostering local pride and maintaining community character while enhancing livability.
The artwork will be available for public viewing at City Hall, May 7 through May 31, between 8 AM and 5 PM.
Celebrations for Historic Preservation Month & Georgia Cities Week are brought to you in partnership by the City of Dahlonega, the Dahlonega Downtown Development Authority and Lumpkin County High School. Cities across Georgia will be celebrating Georgia Cities Week, sponsored by the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA), to showcase and celebrate cities and the many services they provide.
